Of the 500,000 acres of vines in Argentina, there is one province that stands out; Mendoza. Currently producing some 70% of the country’s wine output, a diverse range of grapes flourish here, including Malbec, Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Chenin and Sauvignon Blanc. Small differences in elevation produce significant temperature and climatic changes from vineyard to vineyard, meaning sub-regions such as San Rafael have emerged as important sources of high-quality wines.
