The 8th largest country in the world, Argentina extends across a massively contrasting natural landscape; from the subtropical rainforests in Misiones province, to giant windswept glaciers in Patagonia; from the semi-desert hills of Cuyo, to the flat fertile plains of La Pampa.

Within this vast array of climates and landscapes, a great swathe of wine growing country stretches along the Eastern edge of the Andes, from southern Neuquen to Cafayate in the province of Salta – forming the 5th largest wine-producing region in the world. The region has been cultivating grapes since the arrival of European immigrants in the mid-16th Century. Bringing vine cuttings from their native lands, these settlers soon established vineyards by harnessing the unique qualities of the Andean snowmelt and the favourable climatic conditions; a high elevation, semi-desert climate, with low rainfall and humidity.
